Ibaraki based major ferrous scrap dealer, Takahashi Corporation starts construction work for Thai processing plant in July. The firm already launched local firm in January and secured the land with 16,500 square meters in middle of Thailand in February. The new plant with 1,000 tonnes shearing machine and 1,000 horsepower shredder starts the operation in January 2008. The firm deals ferrous and nonferrous scrap metals at the plant in Amata Nakorn industrial area, Chonburi. The firm purchases the scrap from local transplants of Japanese automakers and appliances makers to ship local steel makers. The firm plans to export the nonferrous scrap to Japanese buyers. The president Yasutada Takahashi said local transplants asked him to build plant 2 years ago and the firm has studied for the plant.
