GS Yuasa Raises Replacement Lead Battery by More Than 20%

GS Yuasa Battery announced the firm will raise the selling price of replacement lead battery by more than 20% for motorcar and by more than 15% for motorcycle on and after August 1. The firm also examines the revision of lead battery price system to reflect the fluctuation of material prices periodically.GS Yuasa Battery raised the selling price of replacement lead battery previously in February 2007 by 20% for passenger vehicle, light vehicle and pickup truck and by 15% for heavy truck, bus, construction vehicle and motorcycle. Lead price at London Metal Exchange has surged up since February. Currently LME lead price became to 1.5 times as much as February and hit record day by day. Other sub material costs also increased for replacement battery.GS Yuasa examines a new price system for replacement lead battery when material price widely fluctuates in a short term especially for lead metal. The selling price of automotive battery automatically reflects the fluctuation of lead market, while the price of replacement auto battery is fixed and battery makers need to offer price hike every when lead market price surges up.
