Flat Plate Steel Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is flat at 80,000 yen per tonne for products with 19 millimeter thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length around Tokyo. The cutting processed plate is traded at more than 95,000 yen level. The price is likely to keep the level under mixed conditions including tight supply from makers, still slow dealers’ transaction and higher dealers’ inventory. The demand is increasing for manufacturers, major part of which is provided by makers directly without dealers’ stock. However, dealers’ sales from stock are still slow though some dealers report the shipment and sales value improved in June compared with May. The supply from integrated steel makers are expected to delay to dealers when the demand increases for major building construction. However, the dealers expect the sales from inventory would keep slow even with spot sales increase to cover limited availability from integrated steels.
