Higher Ferrous Scrap Price in Tokyo

Ferrous scrap market price increased by 500 yen to 22,900 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, to 25,900 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and to 24,900 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level with support by export price. Local electric furnace steel makers pay around 29,000 yen per tonne for turning scrap and some pay as high as 30,500 yen. Some of them already started the planned maintenance outage. However, they increase the scrap purchase price to compete with export price from Tokyo bay. Local scrap dealers also increase the scrap purchase price to follow the move. Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 27,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
