Flat Colored Galvanizing Steel Price in Tokyo

Colored galvanizing steel market price is flat at 215,000 yen per tonne for small coil with 0.35 millimeters thick and 914 mm width and at 204,000 yen for large coil around Tokyo. The dealers’ shipment is still slow though the dealers and makers feel the demand recovery recently. The dealers wait the recovery while they keep the reselling price.

A maker’s official said the monthly shipment to distributors keeps 30% lower since April than a year earlier level. A dealer source said the shipment for thinner items is 40% lower than a year earlier. The slower demand pressures the market price.

The makers and distributors try to increase the selling price when their cost price increased by several hundreds million yen under the slow demand condition after the hot coil price hike. However, the timing is likely to be late August or later due to uncertainty of the demand recovery.
