Nisshin Steel Expands High Value Stainless Output in Shunan Works

Shunan Works of Nissin Steel introduces a slab grinder to expand output capacity of high purity ferrite series stainless steel sheet which is in full operation mainly for automobile. The grinder will start operation next autumn and the output capacity will increase by about 40%. Nisshin Steel advances measures for capacity expansion of strategic products.High purity ferrite series stainless steel sheet is adopted to exhaust-gas treatment system of automobiles. The users have offered Nisshin Steel to expand the supply capacity. Nisshin Steel expanded the production line to 180,000 tonnes per year in March 2007 and carries out additional expansion to meet continuously strong demand.Stainless slabs made in Shunan Works are delivered to Kure Works and hot-rolled, which are returned to Shunan Works and cold-rolled. The firm enhanced the capacity of thermal insulation delivery at Shunan and Kure Works in March 2007 with investment of about 1.5 billion yen.The firm adds one grinder to existent 5 grinders and increases the capacity to 250,000 tonnes per year with investment of about 3 billion yen. Nisshin Steel also plans to improve its continuous casting line and converter with investment of about 2 billion yen to increase the steel making capacity by 2,000 tonnes per month. In the future, the firm will renew 2 accesses to electricity.
