Ferrous scrap market price is around 34,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade, around 36,300 yen for H1 and around 38,000 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when local electric furnace steel makers increase the output in 3 days long weekend. Local steel makers pay 39,000-40,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade and some makers pay as high as 42,000 yen. Utsunomiya plant of Tokyo Steel Manufacturing reduced the scrap purchase price by 500 yen per tonne on Tuesday. However, other makers keep the purchase price when they need more scrap to increase the output in longer holiday weekend through Monday. Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 29,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
