H-beam market price is flat at around 80,000 yen per tonne for product with 200 by 100 millimeters width without freight around Tokyo. The dealers try to pass higher cost price after the makers’ hike but the users resist the higher price under very slow demand due to new building standard law. The dealers, which are getting high priced arrivals from makers, try to increase the reselling price to keep profitability despite of the demand slump. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing left the selling price for distributors unchanged for November order. However, Japanese steel makers try to find the chance to increase the selling price to cover higher cost for ferrous scrap, other raw materials and freight. The makers wait the timing for the hike. However, they cannot increase the price due to very slow demand level. Tokyo Steel concerns some dealers could reduce the reselling price for liquidity and if slow demand continues, more dealers might reduce the price level.
