Flat Carbon Steel Wire Price in Tokyo

Carbon steel wire market price is flat at around 98,000 yen per tonne for special grade product with 4 millimeters diameters and at around 91,000 yen for general used products around Tokyo. The dealers try to pass higher cost price on the reselling price when the makers try to increase the selling price by 5,000 yen since late August. The market could experience the price hike pressure by the supply side in the month. The makers try to increase the selling price by 5,000 yen per tonne to cover higher rod price after rod makers’ 5,000 yen hike. Domestic electric furnace steel makers try to increase the rod price by additional 5,000 yen in November. The wire makers try to increase the selling price step by step when the demand is around 20% lower than a year earlier level due to very slow civil working activity. The wire makers try to cover the higher cost by passing on the selling price through long running effort toward early 2008. The wire dealers also have trouble to pass the higher cost price on the reselling price under slow demand. They are also cautious for potential default of the users of concrete processors. They try to pass the higher cost under the difficult condition.
