Japanese cold rolled stainless steel sheet import decreased by 48.0% to 45,000 tonnes in September from August, according to Japan Stainless Steel Association. The import was below at 5,000 tonnes since July 2006 when it was 3,973 tonnes. The import decreased due to slower demand despite of cheap price.The import from South Korea was the largest at 3,673 tonnes and accounted for 82% of total import. The second was Taiwan at 307 tonnes, and the third was China at 295 tonnes. In the past, the import from China exceeded at 1,000 tonnes, but the import from China is decreasing for these few months.
