Firm Aluminium Scrap Price in Tokyo

Aluminium scrap market price could keep high level under tight supply around Tokyo despite of major drop for primary aluminium ingot. The scrap dealers agreed with alloyed aluminium makers to keep the scrap price for second half of December. The alloyed aluminium demand is expected to increase more in early 2008 when the scrap supply usually decreases seasonally. Domestic primary aluminium ingot price is as low as less than 285 yen per kilogram under weak offshore market. The aluminium scrap market price normally decreases along with primary ingot. However, the alloyed aluminium makers have trouble to secure scrap in December under tight supply. They try to secure materials at relative higher price. The dealers expect the aluminium scrap price could decrease sooner or later despite of the tight supply. The price for lower grade aluminium scrap, which is used only by alloyed aluminium makers, could decrease when alloyed aluminium makers would reduce the purchase price.
