Firm Plate Steel Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is strong tone at around 82,000 yen per tonne for base size with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length around Tokyo. Each dealer is passing the higher cost along to users when the dealers get high priced materials after makers’ hike. Some building project is moving in recently. But mainly demand for building material keeps low. An order to dealer is slow. Dealers’ inventory is decreasing by degree after October when makers are reducing the supply. Especially, standard products’ inventory with some size becomes short. Dealer source said it is difficult to have the products with all size. The processed materials price also increases to 100,000 yen per tonne for cut processed products. Shirring processors request the selling price at the middle of 100,000 yen per tonne against makers’ price hike. The market price is expected to keep strong tone when makers would raise the selling price and the supply and demand becomes tight.
