Scrap shipping volume from Osaka bay decreased by around 40,000 tonnes in 2007 from 2006, according to Kansai Tetsugen. The heavy scrap export decreased by around 30,000 tonnes due to higher consumption by domestic integrated steel makers while mixed scrap export increased as 2006. The total shipping volume decreased by 14% to 234,008 tonnes in 2007 from 273,665 tonnes in 2006. The heavy scrap export was 57,435 tonnes, which was 36% lower than 89,607 tonnes in 2006. The mixed scrap export increased by 1% to 176,573 tonnes in 2007 from 174,230 tonnes in 2006. The shipping of A press scrap was zero in 2007 compared with 8,055 tonnes in 2006. Japanese ferrous scrap export volume decreased except for some areas in 2007.
