Thai tinplate maker, Siam Tinplate tries to expand the domestic market share to around 40% from current 20% when the firm will start the no.2 tinplating line in July 2009. The firm follows the growing market at home and abroad. The firm operates a line to produce tinplate and tin free steel. With the second line, the firm expands the output capacity to shorten the lead time. The firm builds the second line with 120,000 tonnes of annual output capacity for around 1.4 billion baht. The firm plans 140,000 tonnes of sales in 2008, which is 10,000 tonnes higher than 2007. The firm increases the supply volume through better productivity under the growing demand for food can. The firm expects the domestic demand will grow to 700,000 tonnes in 2011 from 570,000 tonnes in 2007.
