Nippon Mining & Metals announced on Friday the firm will integrate its 3 subsidiaries in Taiwan into a new subsidiary “Nippon Mining & Metals Taiwan” starting operation on 1 April, 2008. The new subsidiary will start metal recycling business to collect and melt used metals.Nippon Mining & Metals and its subsidiaries, Nikko Shoji and Nikko Coil Center, have operated 3 local companies in Taiwan in the fields of processing and sale of electronic materials (via Nikko Materials Taiwan), slitting and sale of rolled copper, copper alloys and special steel products (via Nippon Mining Taiwan), and sale of electronic materials, chemicals and plating agents, and collection and sale of metal scrap (via Nikko Shoji).The newly integrated company will collect and manufacture used electronics parts, gold and silver scrap at a newly established yard in Taichung area. The company examines melting process for metal scrap in the future. Recycling business will start in August 2008 with capital expenditure at 860 million yen.
