Firm Plate Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is firm at around 95,000 yen per tonne for product with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length around Tokyo. The distributors succeeded to get higher price to prepare for makers’ wide hike. The price is 108,000-109,000 yen for cut processed materials. The dealers increase the reselling price when the mother plate price reached more than 90,000 yen for product out of JIS though they sold the cut materials at around 105,000 yen in February. The price is likely to keep firm with pressure by supply side. The demand is firm for construction and industrial machinery while the building demand is still slow. The dealers said the buyers increase the inquiry but the shipment is still low level. The dealers’ inventory is flat due to lower supply from makers. The dealers reported some stock out sizes for JIS materials and products with 16-25 mm thick.
