Ferrous scrap purchase price by electric furnace steel makers around Tokyo reached 50,000 yen per tonne under tight supply and competition with integrated steel makers and export shipping. The price increased to 49,500-50,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade and some makers pay as high as 51,000 yen, which is 1,000 yen higher than previous week. Local electric furnace steel makers try to secure scrap by increasing the purchase price by 500 yen per tonne on Tuesday. However, the supply is still low level. A dealer source said the makers should increase the purchase price more. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing and other makers increased the price additionally on Thursday.
