Firm Rebar Price in Tokyo

Concrete reinforcing steel bar market price is 85,000 yen per tonne for base size with 19 millimeters diameter at traders’ direct sales from makers to users and 88,000 yen per tonne at traders’ sales from inventory around Tokyo. The price increased by 3,000 yen for sales from stock compared with last week when the dealers try to pass the higher cost price. The makers try to increase the price level to more than 90,000 yen pressuring on the market. The dealers try to increase the stock sales price to 90,000 yen per tonne in the month and to 95,000 yen in early April. The dealers try to pass the higher cost price before makers hike the selling price additionally in order to secure the profit. A dealer source said the demand is still slow but improves gradually when building activity recovers from damage of impact from new building standard law. The dealers try to accelerate the reselling price hike to cover higher cost price.
