Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 45,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade, at around 48,800 yen for H1 and at around 50,800 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under tight supply. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 51,500-53,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The local supply is tight with strong demand from integrated steel makers and makers in Osaka and other areas. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing increased the purchase price by 1,000 yen per tonne at Utsunomiya plant on Friday just after hike on March 11. Other makers also followed the move. Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 43,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
