Firm H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price keeps firm at 110,000 yen per tonne for 200 by 100 millimeters width around Tokyo. Some dealers offer higher reselling price after Nippon Steel’s announcement of 8,000 yen additional hike for April order. The market shows sign for higher price expectation again though the sentiment toned down in early April. The dealers’ inventory decreased by 7.1% at end March from February and the inventory deceased to less than 2 months for the shipment. The stock level could keep low level when some dealers could keep the low level stock to minimize the stock cost for higher priced material. On the other side, the stock could increase when the dealers got 33.3% higher arrivals from makers in March from February. Nippon Steel said the firm will keep the selling price at least for May and June order. The dealers welcome the decision when they can expect the coming cost price. Many dealers try to pass the higher cost on reselling price while some dealers are cautious on solvency of the buyers for higher price.
