Firm Plate Steel Price in Tokyo

Steel plate price is firm at around 115,000 yen per tonne and at around 125,000 yen for cutting processed materials around Tokyo. The price is likely to increase with expectation for higher price. The demand is slow especially for building and civil works while the demand is firm for construction machinery. The demand is usually bottom in April-June but the buyers reduce the order in April compared with March when they tried to secure materials in advance. The supply is very tight for shipbuilding and construction and industrial machinery. The dealers reported delay of arrivals from makers and their inventory gets decreasing. Some processors reported very tight inventory for materials for processing along with standard sized materials. Some dealers try to hold the materials with expectation for tighter supply. The dealers said the price gets higher when they procure some materials.
