Rebar Price Hits 100,000 yen/t in Osaka

Concrete reinforcing steel bar market price around Osaka reached 100,000 yen per tonne for base size both for direct shipment from the makers to users and inventory sales by the dealers. The price increased by 28,000 yen for direct shipment and by 22,000 yen for inventory sales when the dealers tried to pass higher cost price. The local demand is still slow, especially for inventory sales. With the slower demand, the inventory sales price, which is normally higher than direct shipment, is same level as direct shipment. Local makers increased the selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne for April order. The dealers try to increase the reselling price to 105,000 yen level to secure the profitability.
