Strong Sheet Steel Price in Tokyo

Sheet steel market price is strong at around 95,000-96,000 yen per tonne for hot rolled flat steel, at 99,000-102,000 yen for pickling steel and at 102,000-106,000 yen for cold rolled flat steel around Tokyo.Dealers’ shipment became comfortable when speculative demand decreased by dealers or users into April. Dealer source said dealers’ shipment keeps same level in April compared with last month though he thought the shipment largely decreases. The demand for manufacturing industry seems to keep firm.On the other hand, Japanese integrated steel makers are reducing the supply for dealers. The supply and demand is continuing to be tight situation for mainly cold rolled steel sheet. Some size products keep short. Dealers are anticipating the market price is more rise when makers are likely to raise the selling price due to rising material price, and when overseas steel sheet market price is running high.
