Japanese steel export increased by 7% to record 38.069 million tonnes in fiscal 2007 ended March 2008 from previous year, announced by Ministry of Finance on Wednesday. The export value also hit record 4.144 trillion yen, up by 13.6%. The steel import increased by 7.1% to 7.869 million tonnes and by 16% to 964.11 billion yen. The export volume increased by more than 10% for Asian countries in fiscal 2007 from fiscal 2006 while the export decreased for USA and Middle East. The export value also increased except for USA. The import volume decreased from European Union, Asia and Middle East while the value increased except from Middle East.
