Strong Plate Steel Price in Tokyo

Steel plate price increased to 118,000-119,000 yen per tonne by 3,000-4,000 yen from the ended of Last week and to around 130,000 yen for cutting processed materials around Tokyo. Dealers’ shipment keeps slower when speculative demand converged in April. Small and middle building construction keeps low tone. Many shearing processors are formed to low operation except some processors which got the order for big building project. Makers’ supply is reducing for dealers when the supply and demand keeps tight situation due to strong demand for shipbuilding and construction machinery. On the other hand, dealers’ inventory is decreasing. Nippon Steel raised the plate selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne for dealers for the shipping in May-June. Nakayama Steel Works announced to raise the selling price by 10,000 yen for the shipping in May. Dealers are raising the selling price. Shearing processor source said the firm wants to raise the selling price to over 140,000 yen per tonne. The price is likely to increase with expectation for higher price.
