Firm H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is firm with strong tone at around 117,000-120,000 yen per tonne at dealers’ warehouses without freight for 200 by 100 millimeters width around Tokyo. Dealers’ shipment is slow when the demand for big building projects keeps good while for small-middle size building maintains lower. However, market inventory is decreasing due to reduction of makers’ shipment.Buyers’ speculative purchase with expectation for higher price lifted the price when the dealers try to pass higher cost price on the market after Nippon Steel announced additional 8,000 yen hike on April 9. The market price could increase more.Each dealer raised the reselling price to over 120,000 yen per tonne after long holidays in early May due to Tokyo Steel Manufacturing’s price hike. But market price slightly increased by 1,000 yen per tonne to 117,000-118,000 yen yet. Dealers want to more raise the market price.
