Nippon Light Metal to Raise Al Rolling Charge by 10-15%

Nippon Light Metal (NLM) and its total subsidiary, Nikkeikin Aluminium Core Technology (Nikkeikin ACT), announced on Friday they raise the charges for aluminium rolled products, including plates, extrusions and those fabricated products, by 10-15% effective for the orders received on and after 1 June.NLM and Nikkeikin ACT decided the hike when oil and additive metal costs are surging as well as electric power, fuel gas, packaging materials and freights. They announced the previous hike in January 2007 but the productive costs continued increasing despite of cost cut efforts. The hike will cover all the products while the firms started to appeal the hike for some of the products in advance.Other Japanese aluminium re-rollers also announced the price hike to cover higher costs. Sumitomo Light Metal Industries aims to raise the rolling charge by 10-20% while Showa Denko by 10-15% effective for June shipment.
