Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 48,400 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, at around 51,400 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and at around 50,400 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm when the local steel makers increase the purchase prices. Local electric furnace steel makers pay 55,000-56,000 yen per tonne for turning scrap and some makers pay as high as 58,000 yen. With higher purchase price by steel makers, the scrap dealers also increased the purchase price by 1,000-1,500 yen in the week. Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 53,500 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
