Flat H-Beam Price in Tokyo

H-beam market price is flat at around 118,000-119,000 yen per tonne for 200 by 100 millimeter width at dealers’ site without freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level when the dealers try to find the market trend despite of 5,000 yen hike by Tokyo Steel Manufacturing for June order. The dealers’ inventory is expected to increase slightly in May from April while the dealers report some stock out in certain sizes. The dealers said the spot purchase market is tight due to the relative lower inventory even when the dealers try to select the order to meet. The dealers’ shipment decreases due to slower building activity and aftermath of speculative purchase before. The arrivals to the dealers decrease slightly when the makers try to reduce the supply to distributors. The dealers try to deal with the higher cost price when they get materials with total 30,000 yen higher price since the beginning of the year. The transaction price range is wider than before when the dealers offer wide price range depending on the order and the buyers.
