Plate Steel Price Rises in Tokyo

Steel plate price increased to 135,000 yen per tonne by 5,000 yen from last week. Shearing processors are raising the selling price due when higher price plate arrives to them from plate makers.The demand for building construction keeps slow. Major processors are continuing high operating rate when higher building construction is much while small-and-middle processors are suffering securement of order when lower building construction is few.The supply and demand for plate is tighter when the demand for shipbuilding and construction machinery is expanding. Delivery period is longer after April when makers are reducing the supply to dealers. Dealers’ inventory keeps flat due to small-scale shipment. Some dealers eschews cheaper contract when they anticipate hard obtain if the demand recovers.
