Toyo Aluminium, Sumikei Aluminum Foil Ally for Foil Business

Osaka based Toyo Aluminium and Tokyo based Sumikei Aluminum Foil announced on Monday they agreed in cooperation on their aluminium electrode foil businesses. They aim stable supply and cost down of aluminium electrode foil through this cooperation including mutual utilization of their productive sites and co-procurement of materials. The market share of aluminium foil for electrolytic capacitors will become the secondly largest in Japan as a total of Toyo Aluminium and Sumikei Aluminum Foil. The top supplier is Showa Denko.The cooperation includes (1) mutual utilization of their foil plants and manufacturing sites (including outer manufacturers of secondary aluminium ingot), (2) integration of distribution, (3) unification of material standard and procurement, and (4) exchange of productive technologies.Toyo Aluminium produces aluminium electrode foil at Yao plant in Osaka, Japan while Sumikei Aluminum Foil produces at Isesaki plant in Gunma, Japan.Electrolytic capacitors are small and have large capacitance, which are widely used in electronic related applications. Aluminium electrode foils are used inside electrolytic capacitors.
