Ferrous scrap market price increases again around Osaka after the slump due to flat purchase price by Tokyo Steel Manufacturing. The demand is expected to keep firm in June and electric furnace steel makers increase purchase price.The electric furnaces around Osaka pay 64,500-66,000 yen per tonne. The price level is around 21,750 yen higher than the beginning of the year. The scrap market around Tokyo increased when Tokyo Steel’s Utsunomiya plant while the firm kept the purchase price for plants other than Utsunomiya. Aggressive purchase by integrated steel makers lifts the scrap market. The price leaders shift from electric furnaces to integrated steels.
