Plate Steel Price is Flat in Tokyo

Plate price is flat at 120,000 yen per tonne for base size with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length, at 135,000 yen per tonne for cut processed plate around Tokyo. Dealers keeps strong sales stance when makers raised selling price and plate purchasing becomes tighter.The demand is slow as a reaction of speculate demand in April. Dealer source said the shipment decreased by over 10% from March-April. Especially, the demand for building construction is reducing significantly due to decreased small-middle building construction.Meanwhile, dealers’ inventory is slightly decreasing. The supply and demand is tight when the demand for shipbuilding or construction machinery is expanding. Plate supply is reducing for dealers, too.Shearing processor source said acceptance volume from users’ order is influenced by material purchasing. Cut processed plate price is likely to rise when dealers haven’t pass makers’ price hike on selling price.
