Tokyo based rare metal trader, Advanced Material Japan Corporation started rare metal sourcing from Africa. The firm tries to seek alternative sources in Asia, Americas and Africa when world largest rare metal supplier of China reduces the export. The firm tries to seek new sources in Africa with spot based purchase developing stable supply sources. Advanced Material Japan sent agents to Africa to get information for potential rare metal sources along with spot based purchase. The firm already purchased tantalum ore to ship to India for processing into oxide in order to supply to Japanese buyers. Africa has rich metal resources including copper, nickel, gold and platinum along with cobalt, tantalum, vanadium, chrome and manganese. Chinese government tries to secure African sources when the country cannot meet the growing domestic demand only by domestic sources. Major mining houses also secure rare metal interests in Africa. Japanese government also tries to secure stable source in Africa. However, African sources have much higher risk including political and limited infrastructure.
