Colored galvanizing flat steel market price is flat at 260,000 yen per tonne for smaller coil with 35 millimeters thick and 914 mm width and at 234,000 yen for larger coil around Tokyo. Dealers couldn’t penetrate the price hike in July when building construction market keeps low despite of demand season. The demand stays stagnant. Dealers’ selling volume is decreasing by 20% from a year earlier. Nippon Steel and Sumikin Steel Sheet, Japanese biggest colored galvanizing flat steel maker, said the purchasing volume of hot-rolled steel coil decreased by 20% compared with the firm’s request to integrated steel makers in the first half of fiscal 2008 at the ended of March 2009, and the firm expects the purchasing volume of hot-rolled steel coil decreases by 30% compared with the firm’s request in the last half of fiscal 2008.Colored galvanizing flat steel makers are reducing the supply for dealers due to firm supply to large building project such as plant or warehouse. Dealers are reducing the purchase volume due to slower demand while don’t decrease the selling price when users wouldn’t have more incentive if steel makers decrease the selling price.Nippon Steel announced the firm raises hot-rolled steel sheet price for the shipping in November. Colored galvanizing flat steel makers and dealers are making resistance Nippon Steel’s price hike. There is possible their profit slips due to Nippon Steel’s price hike.Colored galvanizing flat steel makers and dealers are continuing the adjustment of the inventory and are waiting favorable swing of the demand. They would like to finish the price hike at an early date. However, it’s hard the demand increases in near future.
