Steel Wire Price to be flat

Common steel wire market price is flat around Tokyo. The price is 148,000 yen per tonne for higher quality and 140,000 yen per tonne for common grade.

Japanese wire rod makers announced the price hike by around 15,000 yen per tonne for October shipment. Because the shipment time is different with makers, steel wire makers doesn’t start the price hike yet. Some dealers forecast that it requires more time for the price hike from weak demand.

Wire rod makers has strong stance for the price hike. On the other hand, users’ profit is decreasing by makers’ twice price hike at April and July 2008.when the demand for civil engineering is stagnant.

The secondary processors aim to pass increased wire rod price on the selling price when they explain that wire rod price hike increase is too much to absorb.

Dealers will raise the selling price under effort to hike and higher price of import wire rod.
