Ferrous scrap market price is weak at around 20,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 25,300 yen for H1 and at around 27,000 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep weak under slower demand at home and abroad.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 26,500-28,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade and some makers pay as high as 29,000 yen. Scrap exporters report no new export transaction from Tokyo bay since early September. The exporters canceled to submit bid for monthly export tender held by Kanto Tetsugen on October 9.
