Flat Plate Steel Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is flat at around 128,000-129,000 yen per tonne for products with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length and at around 148,000-150,000 yen for cut processed materials around Tokyo. The dealers try to keep the price level when domestic integrated steel makers increased the selling price by 10,000 yen for August and September orders and indicate additional hike.

The dealers’ shipment is slow for building application, especially for small and mid-sized building. The shearing processors for building are suffered from the slower demand. The demand also slows down for construction machinery when small shovel car and small machinery demand decreases under slower economy. Searing processors for such application also reduce the operations.

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing reduced the selling price by 35,000 yen to 91,000 yen per tonne for distributors for November order from October. The makers could adjust the price level after the price hike one after another since the beginning of the year. The dealers expect the market price could keep the level for a while despite of Tokyo Steel’s sharp price cut.
