Shanghai Sigma to Reduce Secondary Al Alloy Output by 20%

Chinese largest secondary alloyed aluminium maker, Shanghai Sigma Metals reduces the output by 20% in December and January from a year earlier level. The production will decrease by around 4,000 tonnes per month under slower demand while the output is around 21,000 tonnes until November.

The output capacity is 22,000-23,000 tonnes per month. The firm operates at more than 90% of the capacity. The firm ships 10,000 tonnes for Japan and 4,000 tonnes for Southeast Asia.

The firm decided the output reduction when the order receipt decreases in November due to worldwide slower demand. The firm would reduce the output in and after February depending on the order.

Chinese secondary alloy makers already reduce the output since October. Some makers reduce the output by more than 50% from a year earlier level. The industrial activity could decrease more impacting on the alloy operations.
