Ferrous scrap purchase price by electric furnace steel makers around Tokyo increased by 1,000 yen per tonne on Wednesday as previous day. The price increased by 2,000 yen to 12,000-13,000 yen for H2 and some makers pay as high as 14,000 yen. The price could increase more under tight supply.
Local steel makers increased the scrap purchase price by 1,000-2,000 yen per tonne on Tuesday to encourage the scrap supply. However, the makers were expected to increase the price when the scrap supply was still low level. Tokyo Steel Manufacturing’s Utsunomiya plant increased the purchase price by 1,000 yen on Wednesday and other makers followed the move.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
