VISCAS (Shenyang) Aims Full Production of HV Cable Accessories in 2010

VISCAS (Shenyang) Wire & Cable Accessories Corporation, a manufacturing subsidiary wholly owned by VISCAS Corporation and located in Shenyang City of Liaoning Province, China, aims full production of high voltage power cable accessories and annual revenue at approximately 400 million yen in 2010. VISCAS is a Japanese high voltage power cable manufacturer co-established by Furukawa Electric and Fujikura. VISCAS (Shenyang) started production of silicon rubber molded insulators and porcelain bushings in January 2008 and supplies the products for Chinese power companies.

VISCAS established the subsidiary of Shenyang in November 2006. VISCAS (Shenyang) manufactures supplies insulators for overhead transmission electric wires and porcelain bushings to connect overhead electric wires and underground power cables for Chinese power companies. The subsidiary examines the product supply to offshore power companies in future.

Shenyang plant is located next to Shenyang Furukawa Cable, Furukawa Electric’s 100% subsidiary to manufacture high voltage power cables. VISCAS (Shenyang) operates 3 silicon rubber injecting and molding machines with about 30 employees on 2,000-square-meter floor. The capital is 300 million yen.

In China, extra high voltage power infrastructures are actively constructed such for 500KV. The government also plans construction of ultra high voltage power networks of 1,000KV. Domestic demand is expected to increase steadily for high voltage power cable accessories.
