Firm Ferrous Scrap Price in Tokyo

Ferrous scrap market price is around 2,400 yen per tonne for steel turning scrap, around 2,900 yen for A grade pig iron turning scrap and around 2,400 yen for B grade pig iron turning scrap at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under the better demand.

Local electric furnace steel makers pay 7,000-8,500 yen per tonne for turning scrap. The dealers have trouble to secure the materials from market under tight supply. Some dealers already liquidated the inventory during the price down phase in October. Under the tight supply, the steel makers manage to secure the materials even at the lower level operations.

Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 8,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka.
