Flat Plate Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is flat at around 127,000-128,000 yen per tonne for product with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length and at 148,000-150,000 yen for cut processed materials at dealers’ sites around Tokyo.

The demand keeps stagnant mainly from building constructions. Small-middle size building constructions are slow, too. The construction machinery or industrial machinery makers are readjusting the output after October due to economy downturn. The dealers’ sales volume decreased by 9.7% in October from a year earlier, according to the dealers’ association around Tokyo. A shearing processor source said dealers’ shipment volume stays at the low level this month.

Tokyo Steel Manufacturing decreased the selling price by 5,000 yen to 86,000 yen per tonne for December orders. On the other hand, Japanese integrated steel makers maintain the selling price of steel plate. Many dealers keep the selling price unchanged to sustain the market price level.
