Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 8,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 9,800 yen for H1 and at around 11,500 yen for HS at dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm under tight supply despite of the output reduction by local steel makers.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 14,000-16,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The dealers’ purchase price increased by 2,000 yen in the week when the steel makers increased the purchase price to encourage the shipment by the dealers.
