Al Scrap Market Price in Nominal Tone, Osaka

Aluminium scrap market price is nominal with few dealings around Osaka. Local secondary aluminium alloy makers are purchasing new cutting sash scrap at 110-120 yen per kilogram, machine casting scrap at 75-100 yen per kg, low grade sash scrap at 80-85 yen per kg, aluminium alloy turning scrap at 65-80 yen per kg and pressed can scrap at 80-90 yen per kg per truck cargo including freight. The price range is nominally widening.

The market price seemed to hit the bottom mainly for low grade scrap at the end of November. However, the downward trend of scrap price emerged again and there seems no sign to bottom out, said a scrap dealer source around Osaka.

Domestic market price of primary aluminium ingot is 137 yen per kg at dealers’ sites without freight, which represnts the lowest in 10 years. Secondary aluminium alloy demand has rapidly declined to follow automakers’ output reductions. Many local secondary aluminium alloy makers already finished scrap procurement within this year. Scrap dealers are rejecting new scrap arrivals with slow shipment.

The current market price is nominal. The price is likely to continue decreasing after New Year holidays.
