Flat Colored Galvanizing Steel Price in Tokyo

Colored galvanizing steel market price is flat at around 260,000 yen per tonne for small coil with 0.35 millimeters thick and 914 mm width and at around 234,000 yen for large coil around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level despite of the slow demand.

The dealers try to reduce the inventory with expectation for lower market price. However, their inventory adjustment could take more time when the shipment could decrease more from current low level. A dealer reports the shipment of thicker sized products decreases by 90% for general contractors from a year earlier level. The thinner products’ shipment also decreases due to slower activity to build house and small building.

The galvanizing steel makers reject the additional price hike for hot rolled coil from integrated steel makers. However, the galvanizing makers’ profitability gets squeezed due to lower shipment. The dealers seek price down for galvanizing makers. Some dealers could liquidate the inventory at lower price when the demand keeps decreasing with uncertainty.
