Strong Plate Price in Tokyo

Plate steel market price is strong at around 120,000 yen per tonne for product with 19 millimeters thick, 5 feet width and 10 feet length and at 148,000 yen for cut processed materials at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. Dealers’ shipment keeps slow. After the last half of August, demand is significantly decreasing from small-middle size building constructions. A shearing processor source said small-middle steel flamers’ business conditions become tight. The demand from big building construction projects is higher. The demand also keeps good from construction and industrial machineries. The supply maintains tight. Japanese steel plate makers raised the selling price by 10,000 yen per tonne for September shipment. Dealers should reflect higher cost price on their reselling price. The market price is expected to keep strong tone when dealers’ purchasing becomes hard and dealers’ inventory is decreasing.
