Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 9,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 10,800 yen for H1 and at around 12,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level under limited supply despite of the slow consumption.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 15,000-17,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Tokyo. The demand decreases due to major production cut by local steel makers. However, the supply is limited due to slower generation from the market while the export shipping increases for China. A dealer source said the supply condition impacts on supply for local makers.
