Ferrous scrap market price is firm at around 14,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 15,800 yen for H1 and at around 17,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep firm due to higher export shipping price from Tokyo bay than local steel makers’ purchase price.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 20,000-22,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. The steel makers keep the price for around a week. However, a dealer source said the market is still tight when the dealers tend to ship the materials for coastal yards instead for local steel makers. Ferrous scrap market price increased to 13,000-14,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade around Osaka when local steel makers raised the scrap purchase prices.M | T | W | T | F | S | S |
