Ferrous scrap market price is flat at around 14,000 yen per tonne for H2, at around 15,800 yen for H1 and at around 17,500 yen for HS at the dealers’ purchase price including freight around Tokyo. The price is likely to keep the level with mixed sign at home and abroad.
Local electric furnace steel makers pay 20,000-22,000 yen per tonne for H2 grade scrap. Offshore market decreases both for US composite price and South Korean market. A dealer source said Japanese scrap price could decrease depending on the export transactions while the export market supports the domestic price level.
